Inspired by Little Richard's music, little Joachim Krauledat was spirited from behind the Iron Curtain by his single mom. Immigrating to Canada, he eventually found his muse in music, developing widespread musical interests. First featured in the Sparrow group, in 1967 he founded Steppenwolf and growled his way to fame and fortune with BORN TO BE WILD. While success came, so did pressure for the next hit, bad business deals, drugs, personnel changes and, eventually, the well ran dry and Steppenwolf ended.
